My current administrative position is Principal of Grayling High School. I’ve held this position for five years. I started my educational career in Seattle, Washington in 2007/08 when teaching jobs were hard to find. My husband and I decided to take a job there and moved with our three-month-old son to begin my teaching career. After one year in Seattle, I was able to secure a mathematics teaching position in Grayling, Michigan at Grayling High School. I taught math at Grayling High School for eight years before transitioning to the counseling office half-time as an at-risk coordinator. After three years of being half-time math teacher and half-time at-risk coordinator, I became the assistant principal of GHS for three months before landing my role as principal. - Performance: Tell us about any awards, accolades or important points of pride related to your career.

Education is a living, breathing entity that is constantly changing. As the State of Michigan makes changes to policies, assessments, curriculum, etc., I want to advocate for my students and staff and for children and educators throughout Michigan. I want to use my knowledge and experiences to help bring about positive changes and to guide educators through this ever-changing, all-important field to which we’ve dedicated our lives. In doing so, I hope to inspire the next generation of educational leaders.
