MASSP Webinars

As dual enrollment opportunities and numbers increase across the State of Michigan it is important to understand eligibility requirements in terms of how college courses correspond to the Michigan Merit Curriculum content standards as well as a student’s EDP. MDE and MASSP often field inquiries from educators, students and parents when school decisions don’t align with what a student and parent want. More often than not the issues are based on interpretation of the law and “protecting” local courses (e.g., AP/IB courses). MDE’s Jeff McNeal and MASSP’s Colin Ripmaster will discuss the statute, MDE rule and the interpretations that govern these decisions and provide common examples of course substitutions. They will address questions from participants to sort through the details and nuances of dual enrollment eligibility, including what a district must do, and what they can and can’t do.
