In response to the many questions we have been fielding from the membership around teacher evaluation, student growth and the how observation changes in a virtual classroom, MASSP hosted another webinar in our series of Leader2Leader webinars this week focused on all things teacher evaluation. MASSP staff members Wendy Zdeb, Colin Ripmaster, Bob Kefgen and Steve Seward were joined by Miller Johnson Attorney Kevin Sutton. The team reviewed current evaluation requirements, commonly asked questions (including practical solutions for handling student growth requirements in light of current data limitations), the legal perspective on pandemic evaluation, projections on future legislative action (or the lack thereof), and some best practices for pandemic observation and evaluation. The webinar also opened with a brief legislative update covering the nuts and bolts of the MDHHS November 18 Face Masks and Gatherings Order and the MIOSHA Emergency Rules (including the work-from-home requirements).
