After two years of not being able to bring the MASSP membership together for EdCon, building administrators statewide are excited to head to the Grand Traverse Resort June 27-29 for EdCon22. This year we are taking a fresh approach to our opening keynotes with concurrent keynote speakers with messaging focused in specific areas: Middle School, Assistant Principals and High School. We also want to keep these cohorts throughout the breakout sessions to allow for more networking opportunities. To make the conference amazing, we need top notch practitioner breakout sessions and the call for EdCon22 presentations is now live.

What are we looking for? Here are some suggested topics, but do not be limited by these ideas.

General Sessions of Interest to All Attendees:

  • Threat assessment, school safety training and protocols

  • Growing teacher professional practice

  • Building positive school culture and creating an inclusive environment

  • Teacher recruitment and retention strategies

  • Strategies for working with difficult parents who don’t agree with school and/or health department policies

Middle School Session Ideas:

  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

  • Master schedule (unique course offerings, advisory hour, new ideas)

  • Successful SEL programming for students and staff

  • Data Mining and how data is being used to improve teaching and learning

  • Remote learning hacks

  • Learning gap closure strategies

  • Social Media/Technology - ways to successfully integrate it into teaching and learning

Assistant Principal Session Ideas:

  • Ways to address vaping and/or the increase in student discipline issues

  • HS Master Schedule building techniques, new courses, new bell schedules

  • Building relationships with staff and students from the AP chair

  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at the high school level

  • Attendance and student engagement improvements

High School Principal Session Ideas:

  • Successful SEL programming for students and staff

  • Positive behavior and sportsmanship at athletic events

  • Career exploration and relevant coursework (internships etc)

  • Creative scheduling ideas- finding ways to mitigate staffing shortages

  • Closing the learning gap, reteaching strategies

  • Mitigating failure rate and helping students to graduate on time

If you have successful programming and great ideas to share it can be very affirming to share with colleagues.
