How long have you worked in education?
37 Years (7 years as a teacher at Grant High School, 3 years as AP at R-PHS and I’m starting my 27th year as principal at
R-PHS)

How long have you been a Principal?
I’m starting my 27th year at R-PHS.

Give us a few personal details.
My wife (Suzanne) and I have four adult children and four grandchildren. We enjoy our family time a lot! My
hobbies include riding my Harley, boating and golf.

What do you most value about your MASSP membership?
MASSP provides great opportunity to network with other school administrators, provide support through advocacy and just-in-time learning through
conferences and workshops.

What is most rewarding about your job?
To have an impact on the lives of students and staff through educational leadership is truly humbling. The lasting relationships that my position as principal has provided to me over the years is something you can’t put a price tag on. I believe relationships are at the heart of what we do and I strive to develop positive relationships with all of my students and staff.

What advice would you have for those who are new to the Principalship?
Continually develop your understanding of what it means to be a servant leader. Work towards a win-win in all interactions with students, staff and community members. Being an effective communicator is essential to the position. Let your footprints in the sand reflect a benevolent and altruistic leader when your day is done.
