Superintendent Letter of Support

Statements

  1. Experience: What is your current administrative position? How long have you served in that capacity? What was your path to obtain it?
I have been the Principal of Carrollton High School in Saginaw, MI for the past 3 years. Prior to that, I served for one year as the Assistant Principal.

Before coming to Carrollton, I spent 12 years in the Saginaw Public Schools in a variety of roles including teacher, summer school principal, multi-tiered systems of support specialist, grant analyst, and athletic director. Prior to my time in the Saginaw Public Schools, I had brief stints as a teacher in the Reading Community Schools, East Detroit Public Schools, and the Romeo Public Schools.

I have had the fortune of having some amazing colleagues, administrators, and mentors over the years that have each given me little pieces of themselves along the way to help make me the leader I am today!

  2. Performance: Tell us about any awards, accolades or important points of pride related to your career.
    • Lead Negotiator for CPS Administrators Group: 2023-Present
    • Administrative Representative: CPS Teachers Union Negotiations
    • Safety Committee Team Member: CPS: Responsible for allocation and implementation of millions in school-safety related grant dollars.-Chair, Tri-Valley Conference Principal’s Group: 2024-2025 School-Year
    • Saginaw Public Schools: Led the initiative to begin combining athletic teams between Saginaw High and Arthur Hill during the lead up to the bond passing to create Saginaw United High School.

  3. Education: What post-secondary degrees have you obtained and from where? What additional continuing education have you received? Do you have a particular area of focus/expertise?
Bachelors Degree in Music Education and Communications from Eastern Michigan University.
Masters of Education from Saginaw Valley State University with an emphasis in Principalship.

  4. Statement of Intent: Why are you seeking this position on the MASSP Board of Directors?
This year, I have been the Chair of the Tri Valley Conference Principal’s Group, where I have helped lead our athletic conference. Through this experience, I have been able to form close relationships with several of my peers from our local area schools, and take the lead in planning our meetings, professional development, and different initiatives through our conference. When I saw this position was available through MASSP, I thought this may be a great opportunity to take on a leadership role with my peers from not just in the Great-Lakes Bay Region, but outside the area as well.

The MASSP has been an incredible resource to me during the early years of my administrative career, and I’d love the opportunity to give back to the organization that has given to me!
