Educators from across Michigan are invited to join the Michigan Social Emotional Learning Alliance (MiSELA) for The Heart of SEL Conference, a statewide gathering dedicated to strengthening Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices and connections.
This one-day event will provide space for SEL champions to convene, network, and share resources that support student well-being while also focusing on the adult practice of SEL.
Conference Highlights:
- Keynote Presentation: Valerie Shapiro, PhD – University of California–Berkeley, Leader of the CalHOPE Student Support Initiative, will share insights from California’s regional SEL efforts.
- Student Voice Panel: Hear firsthand what SEL means to students.
- Regional Spotlights: Learn from leaders across Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula SEL Community of Practice.
- Interactive Networking: “SEL Speed Dating” sessions to foster new professional connections.
Event Goals:
- Increase awareness of SEL and the organizations leading this work.
- Build unity and commitment around SEL in Michigan.
- Strengthen the SEL community through collaboration and shared resources.
