- Experience: What is your current administrative position? How long have you served in that capacity? What was your path to obtain it?
I currently serve as the Assistant Principal at Grosse Pointe North High School, a leadership role I began in 2024. My professional path is built on decades of diverse experience. I spent fifteen years as a High School Teacher, where I developed specialized curricula and served as a Mentor Teacher. Administrative Progression: I transitioned into leadership as an Assistant Principal for five years before being promoted to High School Principal, a role I held for nine years. - Performance: Tell us about any awards, accolades or important points of pride related to your career.
My career is defined by a consistent pursuit of educational innovation and fostering student-centered excellence. A major highlight was being named Administrator of the Year. My leadership in pioneering the “flipped school” model garnered the Noodle Innovative School Award and led to an invitation as an international Keynote Speaker at the World Conference on Computers in Education. In the classroom, I was honored as WDIV l Teacher of the Year. My commitment to student leadership remains a core point of pride; as a multi-year MACSAC Advisor of the Year, I significantly grew our Student Council membership and consistently secured the Award of Excellence. These honors, alongside my role as a presenter for the Michigan Flipped Teaching Conference and ISTE. - Education: What post-secondary degrees have you obtained and from where? What additional continuing education have you received? Do you have a particular area of focus/expertise?
I have built a academic foundation centered on leadership and literacy. My post-secondary degrees include an Education Specialist in Leadership and a Master of Reading and Language from Oakland University, a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Michigan State University, and a Japanese Certificate from Lansing Community College.
My commitment to continuous growth is reflected in extensive professional development focused on equity and innovation. This includes specialized studies on the use of AI in schools, strategies for addressing chronic absenteeism, and supporting women in leadership. Additionally, I focus on empowering staff through instructional coaching and innovation, ensuring our educational practices meet the evolving needs of all students. - Statement of Intent: Why are you seeking this position on the MASSP Board of Directors?
As a former Principal and current Assistant Principal , I have experienced both the power of administrative camaraderie and the isolation that can accompany managing daily building operations. My career in education has taught me that our unique district challenges are actually our greatest opportunities for collective growth I am seeking a seat on the MASSP Board of Directors to champion a more collaborative, inclusive cohort for assistant administrators statewide. Having led transformative initiatives, I understand how exchanging diverse ideas elevates our profession. I am eager to serve MASSP to build a space where all administrators can connect and develop together.
