College Board Webinar: Building a Master Schedule – Changing the Invitation to AP

Principals and school counselors participated in the Changing the Invitation to AP webinar led by the College Board, alongside an administrator panelist from the Troy High School, to explore how schools can expand equitable access to Advanced Placement coursework. The session highlighted newer AP offerings—including English 10: AP Seminar, AP Precalculus, and AP African American Studies—and examined how these courses can be intentionally embedded within multiple student pathways. Participants gained insight into using the AP Potential tool to evaluate access and participation within their own AP programs, while also learning from Troy’s real-world perspective on scheduling, student outreach, and course adoption. The webinar concluded with a broader look at the state of AP in Michigan and nationally, helping attendees reflect on emerging trends and identify opportunities to strengthen and expand AP offerings in their schools.
