In this session, panelists provided an overview of AP African American Studies, highlighting its interdisciplinary design, global scope, and impact on students. Presenters addressed common misconceptions, emphasizing that the course is not a single narrative but a rich exploration of diverse perspectives across the African diaspora. Participants also learned how the course integrates history, literature, research, and presentation, culminating in a student-driven research project. Extensive teacher supports—including AP Classroom, Summer Institutes, and access to content experts—make implementation practical and well-supported for schools considering adoption.
