MASSP Promotes Angel Brewer to Chief of Staff

The Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals is proud to announce the promotion of Angel Brewer to the role of Chief of Staff.

For more than 25 years, Angel has been a constant source of leadership, service and heart within MASSP. Throughout her tenure, she has become one of the Association’s most trusted and recognizable faces, building meaningful relationships with members, students, partners, and colleagues while helping shape the exceptional experiences that define MASSP.

In her new role as Chief of Staff, Angel will oversee the integration of systems and operations across the Association, ensuring teams work collaboratively and efficiently in support of MASSP’s mission. Working closely with the leadership team, she will help guide organizational strategy, oversee operational planning and budgeting, support staff development, and align systems that strengthen the Association’s capacity to serve its members. As Chief of Staff, Angel will serve as the connective tissue between strategy, people, and execution; bringing clarity, collaboration, and accountability across the organization.

Angel’s journey with MASSP began in 2000 as an Administrative Assistant. Through years of exceptional service and leadership, she has advanced through numerous roles, including Membership Specialist, Meeting Planner, Director of Events, and most recently Associate Director of Events and Office Operations. Every step of her career has been marked by a commitment to excellence and an extraordinary ability to put people first.

While Angel’s title has changed over the years, one thing has remained constant: Creating a positive member experience has always been her highest priority. Whether welcoming attendees at a conference, helping a principal navigate a question over the phone, supporting a student leader at camp, or coordinating the countless details behind the scenes that make MASSP events exceptional, Angel approaches every interaction with genuine kindness, warmth, and care.

Her influence extends far beyond the principal membership. Angel has played an integral role in the success of Michigan Student Leadership programs, including Summer Leadership Camp, the State Conference, the Student Mental Health Summit, and countless other student experiences. Whether working with principals, student leaders, or advisers, Angel has a remarkable gift for helping people feel seen, valued, and like they belong.

Over the past two and a half decades, MASSP has grown and evolved significantly, and Angel has been at the heart of that growth. She has built lasting relationships across Michigan, often turning a simple phone call into a genuine connection. Her infectious laugh, thoughtful listening, and sincere interest in others have made her someone people know by name and trust without hesitation. Throughout her career, Angel has helped create a culture where service is not simply a department – it’s the standard.

Angel has also played an integral role in shaping the staff at MASSP as well. From the way staff answer the phone to the experience members have at conferences, on the website, or during event registration, Angel has consistently championed a culture rooted in hospitality, professionalism and care. Her attention to detail, operational excellence and unwavering dedication have helped establish MASSP as the premier education association it is today.

Outside of work, Angel is a lifelong Lansing resident and a proud mother of two children, Emily and Jake. She is also a devoted “Mimi” to her grandson, Colt, who brings her endless joy. As a cherished friend to many, Angel brings her same unique humor, kindness and care to her personal relationships. She and her partner John enjoy traveling and taking advantage of any excuse for Angel to wear her favorite footwear, flip flops!

Angel’s leadership, vision, humor and commitment have left an immeasurable mark on MASSP. She embodies the values of this Association and has played an essential role in its success for more than 25 years. We are grateful for all she has accomplished and excited to see the impact she will continue to make as our Chief of Staff.

Please join us in congratulating Angel Brewer on this well-deserved promotion.
