This session focused on how school leaders can respond when parent concerns become lengthy, complex or AI-generated. We explored the risks of AI-created communications, including misinformation, inaccurate legal claims, privacy concerns and high-volume requests that can quickly strain staff time and resources. Participants also reviewed how to identify when a parent request triggers legal obligations under FERPA, FOIA, special education law or other requirements, and how to determine what actually requires a response. The session closed with practical strategies for slowing down communication, involving the appropriate district staff or legal counsel, establishing clear communication protocols and responding in ways that protect both staff and the district.
