The Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) is excited to continue the Innovative Leaders Network (ILN) for the 2026–27 school year with Year 3: Iterate & Evolve

ILN is designed as a multi-year learning network for secondary school leaders who are ready to reimagine school in an AI-integrated, student-centered, and future-ready landscape. Year 1 focused on exploration and possibility. Year 2 moved from ideas into implementation. Year 3 shifts the focus again—from launching innovation to strengthening the leadership capacity to continually transform, iterate, and evolve.

Year 3 offers returning ILN participants the opportunity to continue, refine, expand, or scale their Year 2 Innovation Change Project—or apply the innovation process to a new challenge or opportunity within their local context. Through individualized coaching, collaborative Design Studios, and a trusted network of experienced ILN leaders, participants will examine constraints, uncover new possibilities, gather feedback, test assumptions, and determine how their work should evolve over time.

Participants will:

  • Advance, refine, scale, or evolve an existing Innovation Change Project—or apply the innovation process to a new challenge.
  • Develop and use Propelling Questions that connect bold ambition with meaningful constraints.
  • Apply strategies such as “We Can If,” Resource & Stakeholder Mapping, abundance thinking, and divergent thinking to real leadership challenges.
  • Receive six individualized Leadership Coaching for Innovation sessions through Michigan Virtual, matched to each participant’s innovation, context, goals, and needs.
  • Participate in collaborative Learning + Design Studios focused on feedback, problem-solving, iteration, sustainability, and scale.
  • Strengthen stakeholder ownership and build local capacity to sustain innovative change.
  • Prepare to share the evolution, learning, and impact of their work as part of EdCon27.

Year 3 is designed to help leaders move beyond managing a single innovation project and develop an enduring capacity for innovation leadership. The goal is not simply to sustain what was started in Year 2, but to continually learn, adapt, evolve, and help others do the same.
