Knowing that leadership expertise cannot simply be given, but must be intentionally developed, Michigan Leadership Fellows supports aspiring and current school leaders through mentoring, coaching, collaborative learning, and action research to strengthen their leadership capacity, effectiveness, and impact.
- Foster a connected network of educational leaders who collaborate, learn, and inspire one another, drawing on the experiences of peers, districts, and state leaders to address complex challenges and shape the future of education in Michigan.
- Challenge participants to develop and strengthen a vision of equity-driven leadership that transforms schools, strengthens organizational culture, and expands opportunities for students.
- Cultivate reflective leadership practices that deepen self-awareness, strengthen decision-making, and support continuous growth alongside colleagues and school communities.
- Engage participants in collaborative work with school system leaders and peers to identify areas for professional growth, strengthen leadership practices, and mobilize people and resources toward shared goals.
- Strengthen participants’ capacity as instructional leaders to build school cultures that prioritize equitable post-secondary planning, access, and opportunity for all students.
